Class 4 - Introduction
Class 4: any suspicion or confirmation of a severe infectious transmissible disease and/or zoonotic, among which officially reportable diseases.
Some examples:
- Strangles (Streptococcus equi)
- Acute diarrhoea with leukopenia and/or fever
- Abortion between 150 and 300 days of pregnancy or perinatal mortality after 300 days of pregnancy
- Acute neurological disease (e.g.: suspicion of the neurological form of equine herpesvirus 1 or EHV1)
- Zoonotic diseases such as rabies, West Nile fever, glanders (Burkholderia mallei), brucellosis, anthrax (Bacillus anthracis) or Mycobacterium bovis tuberculosis.
