Animals classified in Class 3 are animals presenting an infectious disease with a medium risk of transmission (e.g. fever, acute diarrhoea, etc.). Patients infected by/carriers of (multi)drug resistant bacteria (e.g. MRSA) are also housed in this area.
The units housing these patients are identified and are subject to stricter biosecurity rules than for Class 1 and 2 areas.
